Deploy the sensor and extension

The Acium sensor is a lightweight agent installed on each device. Once active, it automatically detects all browsers installed on that device and pushes the Acium extension to each one — no manual extension install required.

If you prefer not to use the sensor, you can install the extension directly from each browser's web store — though some enforcement (like Browser Settings and Browser Routing) requires the sensor. See Sensor vs Extension for the full comparison.

Choose a deployment method​

  • Install via sensor (recommended) — install the sensor once per device and the extension deploys to Chrome, Edge, and Firefox automatically.
  • Manual extension install — install the extension directly from a browser's web store, without the sensor. Best for a single device or a quick test.
  • Google Workspace force-install — push the extension to managed Chrome browsers from the Google Workspace Admin console.
  • Deployment with an RMM — deploy the sensor at scale using Datto RMM, NinjaOne, ConnectWise RMM, Microsoft Intune, Syncro, N-Able, or another script-capable RMM.

What's next​

With at least one device running the extension, your organization's policies are being enforced and data is flowing into the Admin Console. Next, create your first security profile to define which websites and content categories to allow or block.
